Shevlanes Pub situated in Glasgow's Springburn is a traditional bar with a busy day time trade where many of the regulars enjoy coming down for some 'banter' with their friends or for the craic at a friendly stag session. The pub is run by Chris Shevlane together with his son Paul who also runs the popular Wintersgills Bar in the West End of Glasgow. Both bars have regular feature evenings of live entertainment but in the main Shevlanes is simply a warm welcoming traditional Glasgow pub to relax and enjoy a drink or maybe two. We'll be pleased to see you.

A History of Shevlanes Pub

The pub was formerly known as the Victoria Bar. However, in July 1980 it opened as Shevlanes Bar by ex footballer Chris Shevlane who had previously leased the Terminus Bar in Springburn before it was demolished to make way for a new road. In the early 1980's the pub went through some changes by creating a ladies toilet when the flats above were knocked down and the pub became a single story building. More recently in 2002 a wall was knocked down to create more floor space and give the place a facelift.

Springburn has a great history extending back to the time of Scotland's great patriots; William Wallace in the 13th century and more recently in the early 20th century John Maclean. More significantly Springburn was for 125 years from 1841 - 1966 a world class industrial centre for the production and distribution of world class steam locomotive railway trains. Many of the men who helped to build, drive and maintain these magnificent machines can still be found telling a few stories of their experience over a *'hauf and a hauf!' in Shevlanes Bar arguably one of Springburn's favourite howffs.

* A hauf and a hauf traditionally meant a half pint of beer and a half gill of whisky! Now it's a half pint of beer and the current decimalised whisky measure.
